Enones 1, are examples of available and attractive building block which already has the polyfluoroalkyl group in blocks skeleton and their functionalization is an actual and perspective approach for the synthesis of more functionalized molecules. This approach led us to new polyfluoroalkyl containing trioxabicyclo[3.3.1]nona-3,7-diene-4,8-dicarboxylates with four trifluoromethyl or two trifluoromethyl and two difluoromethyl groups in moderate yields (up to 68%). These compounds are perspective as synthetic intermediates for preparation of new polyfluoromethyl containing heterocycles as well as their interaction into macrocycles system like crown ethers.

Novel methodologies are essential to reduce the concentrations of nutrients, microbes and chemicals from sewage prior to discharge into the environment. These are required to preserve and maintain the environmental conditions and human health. Although several techniques exist for the reduction of the chemicals and microbes, the efficacy of the techniques is not significant due to significant physical and structural diversity. Treatment of sewage with microalgae has gained popularity over the past few years, and limited investigations were reported in the literature. The present study deals with the treatment of household sewage treatment plant by using green algae, namely, Scenedesmus, Chlorella and their combination. During the experiment, it was observed that the algae grow under adverse condition and utilised the available nutrient for their survival. Further, the advantage of algae treatment is that they are efficient, ecofriendly, renewable and very much cost-efficient. Thus, many disorders can be prevented by using this treatment. The new study on mechanism of degradation and isolation of commercially important enzymes will be very significant.

Reported here for the first time is the Ir-catalyzed gamma-selective hydroboration of gamma-substituted allylic amides under mild reaction conditions. A variety of functional groups could be compatible with reaction conditions, affording gamma-branched amides in good yields with <= 97% gamma-selectivity. Weakly coordinating, ketone-directed C-H vinylation using vinyl acetate is reported here for a wide range of aromatic ketones such as acetophenones, diaryl ketones, chromones and biologically relevant chalcones under cost-effective and air-stable cobalt(iii)-catalysis. Regioselective, mono-vinylation occurs for challenging vinyl substitution-free styrenes in moderate to good yields, and this moiety has been used to synthesize functionalized indanone, alpha-naphthol and an advanced intermediate for bruguierol A synthesis. An acrylate-surrogate provided the corresponding alkenylated product under these vinylation conditions. Detailed mechanistic studies are carried out to support the proposed catalytic cycle.

A series of 1,3,5-triazine analogues, incorporating aminobenzene sulfonamide, aminoalcohol/ phenol, piperazine, chalcone, or stilbene structural motifs, were evaluated as potential antioxidants. The compounds were prepared by using step-by-step nucleophilic substitution of chlorine atoms in starting 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine. Reactions were catalyzed by Cu(I)-supported on a weakly acidic resin. The radical scavenging activity was determined in terms of %inhibition activity and EC50, using the ABTS method. Trolox and ascorbic acid (ASA) were used as standards. In the lowest concentration 1 X 10(-4) M, the %inhibition activity values at 0 min were comparable with both standards at least for 10 compounds. After 60 min, compounds 5, 6, 13, and 25 showed nearly twice %inhibition (73.44-87.09%) in comparison with the standards (Trolox = 41.49%; ASA = 31.07%). Values of EC50 at 60 min (17.16-27.78 mu M) were 5 times lower for compounds 5, 6, 13, and 25 than EC50 of both standards (trolox = 178.33 mu M; ASA = 147.47 mu M). Values of EC50 correlated with %inhibition activity. Based on these results, the presented 1,3,5-triazine analogues have a high potential in the treatment of illnesses caused or related to oxidative stress.

With raising prevalence of obesity, the regulation of human body fat is increasingly relevant. The modulation of fatty acid uptake by enterocytes represents a promising target for body weight maintenance. Recent results demonstrated that the trigeminal active compounds capsaicin, nonivamide, and trans-pellitorine dose-dependently reduce fatty acid uptake in differentiated Caco-2 cells as a model for the intestinal barrier. However, non-pungent alternatives have not been investigated and structural determinants for the modulation of intestinal fatty acid uptake have not been identified so far. Thus, based on the previous results, we synthesized 23 homovanillic acid esters in addition to the naturally occurring capsiate and screened them for their potential to reduce intestinal fatty acid uptake using the fluorescent fatty acid analog Bodipy-C12 in differentiated Caco-2 cells as an enterocyte model. Whereas pre-incubation with 100 mu M capsiate did not change fatty acid uptake by Caco-2 enterocytes, a maximum inhibition of -47% was reached using 100 mu M 1-methylpentyl-2-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-phenyl)acetate. Structural analysis of the 24 structural analogues tested in the present study revealed that a branched fatty acid side chain, independent of the chain length, is one of the most important structural motifs associated with inhibition of fatty acid uptake in Caco-2 enterocytes. The results of the present study may serve as an important basis for designing potent dietary inhibitors of fatty acid uptake.

Nicotinic acid hydrazide was incorporated into new 4,5-dihydro-5-hydroxy-3,5-diphenylpyrazol-1-yl derivatives. Compounds 6a-h were synthesized, and their antihyperlipidemic activity was evaluated in high cholesterol diet-fed rat model. Compounds 6e, 6f were found to decrease the levels of serum total cholesterol by 14-19% compared to control group. Total triglycerides were also reduced by 24-28% and LDL cholesterol by 16%. As expected from parent niacin, compounds 6e and 6f caused an elevation of HDL cholesterol by 33-41%. Docking study supported the ability of designed compounds to block NPC1L1 active site in a manner similar to that observed with ezetimibe.
